Your Guide to Hiring a Provence Wedding Photographer
Sebastien Boudot is a wedding photographer based in Provence, working with international couples across the Luberon, the Alpilles, and the French Riviera since 2008.
As a Provence wedding photographer, I know this region is not just a backdrop. It is a light, a pace, a particular way the sun sets on fields. From the hills of the Luberon to the small roads leading to Château de Robernier, this area has its own rhythm, and photographing a wedding here means learning to follow it.
I have been working in Provence since 2008, covering weddings at the Château de Sannes, Galinier de Lourmarin, Château Martinay, and private villas around Gordes. My approach here is the same as in Provence: present, discreet, unhurried.

THE PROVENÇAL ATMOSPHERE

Venues of Provence
Château de Sannes

The estate produces its own wine, adding an authentic touch to every celebration. The golden afternoon light filtering through the vineyard rows creates an extraordinary setting for wedding photography.
The château offers a refined blend of Provençal heritage and modern elegance, with a beautiful courtyard, vaulted stone cellars, and sweeping views of the Luberon valley.

Château des Trois Fontaines

Château la Tour Vaucros

As a photographer, I am drawn to the incredible diversity of this estate: from the dramatic verticality of the tower against a sunset sky to the soft, intimate light found along garden paths lined with roses and jasmine. Discover Château la Tour Vaucros →

Le Galinier Lourmarin

Capelongue

The interplay of modern architecture and ancient landscape creates images that feel both timeless and contemporary. Discover Capelongue →
Perched on the heights of Bonnieux with panoramic views over the Luberon valley, Capelongue is a five-star hotel that combines contemporary design with the warmth of Provençal hospitality. The infinity pool overlooking the valley, the olive grove terraces, and the sophisticated dining spaces create an atmosphere that is both luxurious and deeply rooted in the landscape.

Château Martinay

Every event is steeped in authentic Provençal character, complemented by the estate’s own fine wines and olive oils. I find the venue particularly magical in late June, as the lavender reaches full bloom, the setting sun transforms the château’s golden stone walls into a canvas of deep amber. Discover Château Martinay →
Château Martinay is a masterfully restored 18th-century estate near Carpentras, framed by an iconic double-alley of centennial cypress trees and lush lavender fields. The property offers a rare harmony of intimacy and grandeur, featuring a private chapel for heartfelt ceremonies and a hidden walled garden for elegant cocktails.

Château de Tourreau
Château de Tourreau, near Sarrians at the edge of the Dentelles de Montmirail, is one of the most photographed wedding venues in Provence — and for good reason. The 18th-century façade, the grand allée of plane trees, the formal French gardens, and the reflection pool create a setting of extraordinary symmetry and elegance. Though I do not yet have images from this venue to share, I have visited it many times and can say that the light here, particularly in the golden hour, is among the most beautiful in the region. It is a venue that commands the photographer’s full attention and rewards it generously.
Your Provence Wedding Awaits
From the Luberon to Château de Robernier, Provence offers a range of settings that few regions in the world can match. What unites them is the light, the sea, and the particular quality of ease that comes when a place has been receiving guests with pleasure for over a century. I would be glad to be part of your celebration here.

The property centers around a masterfully renovated 18th-century bastide, home to a Michelin-starred restaurant, a serene spa, and 40 hectares of organic vineyards.

Hameau des Baux

Hameau des Baux is a charming boutique hotel nestled at the foot of Les Baux-de-Provence, one of the most dramatic hilltop villages in the region. The property offers a Provençal hamlet atmosphere with stone cottages, olive groves, and a swimming pool surrounded by lavender and rosemary. The setting is intimate and romantic, ideal for smaller weddings where every detail matters. The proximity to the legendary Carrières de Lumières and the medieval village above adds a sense of cultural depth to any celebration here.

“Sébastien was our wedding photographer at Le Galinier and we couldn’t have been more thrilled with his work! He truly captured the essence of our day – with wonderful candid moments from us and our guests, as well as incredibly beautiful images throughout the wedding celebration. Everyone commented on how the feeling of the wedding was so beautifully conveyed through the photos – we were simply overwhelmed with the number of pictures that we loved! He was discreet throughout the day so no one felt his presence was intrusive or overbearing at all – which is why he managed to get such wonderfully natural and spontaneous images. We are both so happy that we had Sébastien as our photographer and couldn’t recommend him highly enough!”
“Thrilled with the pictures Sebastien took at our wedding :)”
“Sébastien captured our wedding in the most magical way and we could not have been happier with the result! We are so truly happy and grateful for having him be part of our big day. Such a great eye for details! We highly recommend Sébastien, we would book him again a hundred times over. Thank you!!”
“We want to thank Sébastien for his amazing work! The photos of us as a couple truly capture our essence and beautifully showcase the charm of the château. We’re also really grateful that Sébastien managed to photograph all our guests, even though there were so many people. Some of our guests have already been asking who the photographer was — they loved Sébastien’s work as much as we do! We’re also very impressed by how quickly you delivered the photos. All in all, you are a fantastic photographer, and we will absolutely recommend Sébastien to everyone. If there’s another occasion in the future, we’d love to work with Sébastien again.”
“Sebastien captured beautifully the precious moments of our special day. The photos are really stunning and perfectly as we wanted them to be. Sebastien is also a good listener and with his strong experience in wedding photography, he knew how to keep us at ease in front of his lense. Sebastien knows how to remain discreet during the ceremony to immortalised unique photos of us and our guests. Furthermore, Sebastien went extra-mile for us by being flexible and understanding while we had to make few adjustments and last minute changes due to the unforeseen rain after the ceremony. Thank you for everything! Nurani & Mark”
“Sebastien was an absolute pleasure to work with! We planned our wedding from the US so finding vendors is always a little extra challenging. The moment we met Sebastien in person we immediately felt so comfortable. Not only was he a joy to work with but he captured the essence of our wedding so perfectly. When looking through photos you can feel the emotion. My fiance, our guests and me are so in love with the photographs! We hope to find a reason to work with him again.”
“Choosing a wedding photographer, for us, was one of the most important tasks when it came to planning our wedding. We dedicated our time to finding someone who we adored and someone who’s work connected to us emotionally. When we came across Sebastien’s portfolio, we instantly knew that he was the wedding photographer for us. In the lead up to our big day and during the wedding day itself, he was professional, helpful, always smiling and continued to make us giggle and feel relaxed throughout. It was important for us to work with a photographer who captured our day authentically and romantically. We both love natural and raw wedding photos that capture the true feelings and emotions during a wedding. We also love B&W images and images that have a wonderful timeless and classic, yet modern and artistic feel to them. Sebastien’s work is exactly that. Once we received the photos back, which came back extremely quickly, we were both in tears with just how beautiful they were. A wedding day can go so quickly, but looking back at these brought back some of the most happiest memories we will both remember for a lifetime. We can’t thank or recommend Sebastien enough. ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What photography style do you use for Provence weddings?
Documentary and editorial. I blend into the celebration to capture authentic emotions and candid moments, while also creating deliberate couple portraits in the exceptional light of Provence. The result is contemporary, timeless, and never staged.
2. Where are you based, and do you cover all of Provence?
I am based in the Camargue, roughly two hours from Aix-en-Provence and at the heart of the Luberon. I cover the entire Provence — from Avignon to Bonnieux — without travel surcharges for most destinations.
3. How long until we receive our wedding photos in Provence?
Typically, three weeks from the wedding date. This is significantly faster than the industry average, and it applies whether your wedding is in the Luberon, Château de Robernier, or anywhere in Provence.
4. How many photographers will be at our wedding?
Coverage always starts with me. A second photographer is available on request, and I recommend it for larger venues or when multiple simultaneous moments require comprehensive coverage, particularly at the Luberon venues, where the ceremony and cocktail reception can unfold in separate spaces.
5. How do we book you for our Provence wedding?
We start with a conversation — by email or video call — to understand your vision and confirm availability. I then send you a tailored proposal. To secure your date, a signed contract and deposit are required. I recommend booking 9 to 18 months in advance for peak season dates in Provence.
6. How far in advance should we book a wedding photographer in Provence?
Between 9 and 18 months for dates between May and October. The Luberon and high-demand Provence venues often have their own booking timelines that push couples to confirm vendors earlier. Reach out as soon as your venue is confirmed.
7. Do you speak English?
Yes. The majority of my clients in Provence are international couples from the UK, the US, Scandinavia, and Australia. All communication, from first enquiry to gallery delivery, is conducted in English.
8. Can you photograph a civil ceremony in Provence?
Absolutely. Civil ceremonies in Provence take place at the local mairie (town hall), and I am experienced in photographing these intimate and meaningful moments. Many couples combine a civil ceremony at the mairie with a symbolic or religious ceremony at their chosen venue.
